Conservatives have won 2 seats in Crewe West, with 1 Labour Councillor returned.
Labour polled 53% in this division at the last County election.

So looking at Crewe and Nantwich for the 22nd May by-election, this is looking very good for the first Tory gain from Labour in over a generation.

Comparision with the last district elections would be interesting

The trouble that is except for Vale Royal I think all the districts have a number of 1 or 2 member wards so not all will have been up last year. Also seats tended to be less comprehensively contested. for example in Crewe & Nantwich 19 wards were up last year the Conservatives contested all of them, Labour 16 and the LDs only 6. Thus the comparison with last year would show a large increse in LD support which is misleading

Elizabeth Gilliland, who was one of the three Conservative councillors for the Alderley ward has
died
.
She was previously a member of Macclesfield Borough Council for the Macclesfield Ivy ward, first elected in 1999.
